My name is Jamar Mitchell. My most famous quote is "To be normal, is to be weird." I am currently in the 11th grade. I am excited to leave the country and see how other countries are. I have no real worries about the trip. The skills I bring to the trip is a sense of direction. The one thing I want to gain from this trip is to be able to leave my country for once.

Stefan Continued...

My quotes...

Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out.

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists in not exceeding the limit.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

1. First name: Amanda

2. “Dream by night, wish by day…Whatever you imagine can come true.” – Anonymous

3. Current Grade Level: 12

4. The most exciting aspect of the trip would be actually visiting Costa Rica. I had only been outside of the United States once to visit Niagra Falls in Canada, so this should be an interesting trip. It will be the farthest I have ever traveled.

5. My friend who went on the Costa Rica trip last year had said that at times, it was really warm in Costa Rica. She also mentioned that the insects there were huge. I'll have to see just how hot the weather is and how large of insects she had described. That seems to sum up all the worries at the moment.

6. I am pretty good at the Spanish language. I am a hard worker and highly motivated.

7. I hope to gain a little more insight on other cultures of the world. Costa Rica will be one of the many cultures that I will encounter in life. I hope to learn as much as can from this experience. I believe that the best experience is gained when you do not intend upon seeking it.

Biology Class: “Understanding genetics is not just about understanding why we look like our parents. It is also about coming to grips with some of humankind’s oldest enemies: the flaws in our genes that cause genetic disease (pg. 5).” DNA: The Secret of Life

11th Grader

The two main things that I find exciting about this trip, is the music and learning about a culture that is different from my ethnic background in a different country.

The things that worry me about this trip is getting lost in the forest or being bitten by something that can put me in the hospital. But when you are go on these trips you should think positive and have fun while you are there because this is a chance of a life time.

The skills that I bring to this trip are that I am a hard worker, I’m a drummer and I have leadership’s skills. But to tie that altogether, I get the job done looking outside the box.

The one thing that I hope to gain is another outlook on life and ready learn the history of their music and their culture.

1. First name Jay Carter 2. A Quote (from a book, movie, song, tv show, or famous author) that sums up you and/or your philosophies. "YOUR THE ONE YOU DECIDES TO BE HAPPY, HEALTHY AND STRONG!" "KNOWING SOMETHING ABOUT EVERYTHING IS BETTER THAN KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING" 3. Current Grade Level Junior 11th Grade 4. What about the trip do you find most exciting? I think that going on this trip will be exciting knowing that i am going to meet new people from a different society. Knowing that i will be able to travel across the country to help someone in need of my help. Overall, i think that attending this trip is more exciting than most things in life that i have done. Many people dream of doing this kind of work but i have the ability to actually do it for me, for those who always wanted to and the ones who is in need of beds, food and other living standards. Of course, going somewhere i have never been and afraid of not living up a new society living means. I am more afraid of not being well educated about the background of those who are or has lived there. I would like to started reading and researching about the way the people in Costa Rica live and whats is appropriate. 6. What skill(s) do you bring to the group? The skills that i have to bring to the group are leadership, responsibilities, and couresty. 7. One thing you hope to gain from the experience How to adapt to a different culture and learn the language of like it is my own lanuage.

Hello, my name is Sarah. I am a current 11th grader, set to graduate in June of 2009! I have moved a lot in my life and we have explored the surrounding states, although I have never been out of the US. I am really excited for having this opportunity to travel abroad; this is something I have always wanted to do. I will also have the opportunity to try new foods and activities while I am in Costa Rica. I am worried about the size and amount of bugs there; I have heard that the bugs are huge and plentiful down there. I do not like bugs in very close radius to me. While enjoying the sites of the rainforest and city, I hope that I do not lose sight of the group. I have developed a great sense of humor while traveling with my family, which makes hurdle seem funny. I also am pretty resourceful. I am very quick on my feet; I can have a response to just about anything. I hope to gain a new sense of how another country, is run and what life is like there. I think it will be a new prospective on life for me. Two of my favorite quotes are, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” And “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” Both are from two of my favorite movies. I really like these quotes because this is how I think how one should live his or her life.
